What is a digital wallet?
A digital wallet is a secure way to make purchases with the tap of your phone or watch at participating retailers and within mobile apps. The digital wallet creates digital versions of your credit and debit cards stored in an app on your mobile device. The app assigns each credit and debit card a virtual card number and your actual card numbers are never shared adding an extra layer of security.
How does digital wallet work?
Your digital wallet can be used at any merchant that accepts digital wallets, look for this symbolor within any apps or websites on your mobile device that accept digital wallets. Simply unlock your phone or smart watch and hold it near the contactless reader until you see the completed checkmark. Additionally, most apps require authorization via your fingerprint, passcode or other security measure before completing the transaction.
More than one card can be added to your digital wallet but the first card you add will be the default for all transactions. Be sure to move your State Street Bank card to the top of the list as your preferred method of payment.

With the ease of digital wallet, you can pay without needing your physical card, simply tap and go. Plus, the added security helps protect your card information.
How can I get started?
Download your phone provider’s wallet app to your phone and follow the instructions on-screen to load your debit and/or credit card information into the app. Once your card has been verified you are ready to use your digital wallet!

Are digital wallets secure?
Absolutely, they even can be safer than swiping or entering your card information on a website. Digital wallets do not use your actual card number so your card information is never shared and stays secured.
